Superintendent letter

Dear East Granby Families,

From time to time, social media highlights “challenges” that ask students to act in ways that are not respectful or appropriate for school. A recent example making the rounds encourages the use of restrooms in ways that go beyond their intended purpose. While we have not seen this happening here, a post has circulated suggesting it could occur in East Granby tomorrow.

Please know:

  • We are aware and will have staff attentive throughout the day to ensure our schools remain safe, calm, and focused on learning.

  • Our School Resource Officer reviewed the post through the appropriate law-enforcement channels and confirmed there is no safety threat to our schools.

  • While this is not a security issue, encouraging students to misuse restrooms is still concerning, and we are prepared to address any such behavior quickly and appropriately.

We encourage you to take this as an opportunity to speak with your child about social media “challenges” in general. These trends can sometimes pressure young people into choices that don’t reflect who they are—or the respect we expect for themselves, their peers, and their school.

In East Granby, we are a community of leaders and learners striving for excellence. Part of that commitment is making choices that build each other up and strengthen our shared environment. We are confident that our students, with your partnership, will continue to rise to that expectation.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us keep our schools safe, positive, and focused on learning.

Together, to the stars,

Suzanne Palmieri
